Frequently Asked Questions

How are tournaments structured?

Tournaments follow a Swiss-system format. Final standings are determined first by number of wins, then by points scored, head-to-head record, and finally by ranking.

How does a match work?

Each round you pick 10 wrestlers and rank them from most to least likely to win their bout. Scoring works as follows:

  • Correct picks in positions 1–3: 3 points each
  • Correct picks in positions 4–10: 2 points each
  • Correct pick via absence (fusensho): always 1 point
  • Correct kinboshi (upset of Yokozuna): +1 bonus point

In case of a tie, the winner is decided by comparing each pick position one by one — the player with the first correctly predicted position wins. If still tied, the result is decided by lot. There are no draws.

How is the ranking updated?

Rankings are updated after each tournament. Players with more wins than losses retain or improve their rank, while those with losing records drop down.

Ozeki promotion requires holding the rank of Komusubi or Sekiwake and either winning a tournament outright, or accumulating 30 wins across the last three tournaments.

Yokozuna promotion requires winning two consecutive tournaments as Ozeki, or accumulating 32 wins across three consecutive tournaments as Ozeki while having won at least one tournament in your career.
